How to feed two f/t rats at a time....

kostik Oct 31, 2007 01:10 PM

I had to purchase rats smaller than my ball python needs, so I was wondering how I can get him to eat 2 at a time. He is a picky eater and it's hard for him to strike at one.
Do I wait until he is almost done swallowing one, then I try to put the other one in his mouth headfirst?

Thanks

NO! That could be very stressful to your snake. That only needs to be done in extreme situations of life or death. When he gets the first one down completely offer him the second one. If he is still hungry he will eat it, if not he wont. I have guys that are scared of larger rats, in this case I give them a weaned live rat or even a mouse then immediatly follow up with a appropriately sized rat. The smaller item kinda gets it in eating mode and they will slam the larger rat.
