Hey Mike.
How large are your peachies?

Spawn
Good question!
I have never measured their lengths, so here goes a guesstimate.
My adult male is about 3 foot and my female and subadults are about 21/2 foot.

Mike,
Where did you get all the stumps, bark and wood items for your cage? Did you go find them inthe woods or did you buy them?

MikesMonitors Nov 01, 2007 12:14 PM

Jeff
I have 8 children that all live with me, I'm so broke I can't pay attention..let alone cage decor!
I do indeed take a few of my kids into the woods to find all of my cage decor...except the silk foliage.

Great Pic. Do you worry about bugs and things that come with the woods or is that just considered natural?

MikesMonitors Nov 01, 2007 02:32 PM

Jeff
The funny thing is most of the bugs (winged) die off quickly!
What have remained are what I call my "lil work horses"
Roly polys, small Centipedes and Millipedes.
These lil work horses do a great job eating any fecal matter missed during daily spot cleaning.
They have always leveled off population wise according to food available.

Now that I am only working with Jobiensis and they crap 90% of the time in their water basin (large plastic mortar tub), these number have drasticly dropped!

My Beccari, Prasinus and Similis enclosures were like mini eco systems.

I talked to a guy at the local spa and pool shop not to long ago about getting a small firberglass pool that had been damaged. They where going to cut it up and through it away insted of patching the 2' hole that was knocked in the side. It was perfect for a croc enclosure the guy gave it away beore I could get back to get it. Id still like to find one.

MikesMonitors Nov 01, 2007 04:34 PM

They used to be pretty reasonably priced brand new.
They have went way up in price so going to the manufacturer and picking up a "damaged" one is the best way to go.
I don't think I have ever seen one large enough for Salvadorii though.

This was a fiberglass swimming pool I was going to cut about pne of the side off and stand it up. Im not sure the measurements I know if would have fit in my barn. It was at leat 15' long though. 4' deep or so on one side 6' or so on the other. Would have been cool. Ian

Holy Cripes Mikey, you are indeed the 'Sperminator'! Now that I got that all straight I can laugh my arsey off at your last reply and pics - diagrams indeed on how you did it! Too bad our monitors can't hold a candle to you. Good luck with the kids and don't forget to feed those monitors!
Mike
PS When you say you're 'open to trades', are you referring to just your reptiles????

Mike
I once shook this womans hand at a Union meeting and a few days later she found out she was gravid....9 months later I was clear by DNA evidence! LOL

I know how much people pay for fertility drugs, so I had this idea to sell my schtuff by the thimble full.
My Wife squashed the idea!

Feed my Monitors, OF COURSE!
The beautifull thing about having Monitors and all of these kids IS their diets work well together.

I breed several Roach species and when things get tight, I tro a couple hand fulls of Hissers in some gravey, tro it over some pasta and tell them it's schrimps and pasta...they love it!

The 3 insectivors in this photo are Angalino(big head kid)
lil GiGi in da back and Lexi has her head cut off.
I have seen a photo or two of you and your off spring, Italians make some good looking kids...if you don't believe my just ask my Mudder. LOL
