Where to order frozen rats?

jpman78 Nov 01, 2007 08:40 AM

Currently we get all of our F/T rats from rodentpro. However lately we have had some trouble getting the sizes we need. Does anyone have some recomendations of where else to buy F/T rats from online that is comparably priced?

I get all of my frozen rodents from The Mouse Factory (www.themousefactory.com). Their service is great and they have never been out of stock on anything I needed. I don't know if they are comparably priced to Rodent Pro as I have not felt the need to shop around in a long time.

RodentPro is good! Shipping kills ya, but that's true for all!

I didnt like Rodent Pro. I got xx-Large when I ordered large and they were way too big for what I needed. The large were on "Hot Deals" and I personally think they ran out and sent me the next size up?? JMO..?

Each time the rats have been all covered with frozen feces, really bad. And the last time i ordered, there was NO dry ice, and i dont mean it melted, there was no foil or any container for it at all like the other times I had ordered.

I guess alot of people have had good results, but my own opinion is I was not happy and I have not gone back.

I buy live from Big Cheese Rodents here in Texas. They vacuum pack everything and the rodents are all appropriately sized. Adult mice are only 45 cents, and frozen is the same price. All rodents are clean, well fed, and the snakes like them.

I have tried many different places, including some of the ones mentioned here, and Mouse Factory is by far the best. The rodents are neatly packaged in vacuum sealed bags, properly sized, and VERY clean. You will not find wood shavings or feces in their rodent packages. Also, in addition to having a longer shelf life due to the vacuum sealing, the neatly arranged packages dramatically reduces the freezer space required and also cuts down on shipping costs. Their customer service is awesome as well.

I'm also going to say the Mouse Factory - outstanding in all ways!!

I always order from Big Cheese in Fort Forth and have no complaints. The rats are always clean and vacum sealed. Plus they always arrive chubby and healty looking. Their shipping practices are also sound - cardboard box (with minimal markings), dry ice and insulation. I've ordered from a few other rodent suppliers and have decided to stick with Big Cheese.

Thanks for the replies!

Looks like I might give big cheese a try...their prices are close to rodent pro.

The mouse factory seem to be about 50% more in cost.....do they have better shipping prices maybe?

Either sound like a great back up.

Thanks!

John,

I too enjoy dealing with Big Cheese Rodents.
Prices are good and quality is great!
If the cost of shipping is of concern, ask about Greyhound service. It is by far the cheapest way to go! They can send fairly large orders this way....and for FAR cheaper than most other methods.
They really pack things nicely! It always arrives frozen SOLID as a rock. (Even if you place an order in the middle of summer).

Of course, this time of year keeping a shipment frozen is a little easier.
I like the rodent weight breakdowns from Big Cheese better than other from other companies.
Take care,

I've ordered from both Rodent Pro and Big Cheese. I would recommend Big Cheese over Rodent Pro. With Big Cheese the package comes vacuum sealed and there is no chips or feces. Also, with Rodent Pro you get rats with legs broken off and stuff like that.
