Eggs starting to hatch - NEED HELP!

eidechsemann Nov 01, 2007 05:13 PM

This is the first time I've ever bred snakes (Bred a few lizards). My female ball python layed a clutch of 9 eggs on Labor Day. They've incubated; 3 eggs have gone bad. Yesterday, the first baby slit through its egg and today he fully emerged. I've candled the other 5 eggs, and they still look wonderful.

However, none of the other babies have slit their shells. Should I be concerned? I've always heard that they hatch within a day of each other and it's been about 36 hours since the first baby slit his shell open.

Please give me your thoughts! Thanks!

It is no big deal. You can slit the eggs if you want or leave them alone and they will comeout when they are ready. Sometimes it takes a week for a clutch to hatch.

Oh, whew! I didn't realize it could take that long. That really puts my mind at ease. Thank you!
