Kenerlyi shed problem

Cenobite Nov 01, 2007 09:51 PM

I have two clutches of Mexican hognose that are both almost 4 weeks old and NONE of them have shed yet and all are refusing food. I know they should have their first shed within 10 days or so but none of them have shed yet. As you can tell from the photo, they came out of the egg fat and healthy so I was just thinking about brumating them for 5-6 weeks and see what happens.
Does anyone on here have experience with this ? Any suggestions ?

Well, my westerns shed the day they hatch. The skin is so thin, you almost can't see it. I would assume, since they are a sub species of the western, that they would be the same.

What are you presenting as food items and how are you presenting it? Have you tried any "hog tricks" ( dipping pinks in tuna water or scenting w/ frog toad or fish) to get them to eat?
