How soon can you tell the difference between the males and females. and a stupid question how do you tell.

If you know what to look for, you can tellright away after birth.

Compare the difference in length between the anus and genitals. On females the gap is much smaller.

You can also look for nipples on females right when they start getting fur.

Eventually the male testicles will make it quite obvious.

Try a google search on "rat sexing", there are plenty of sites with pics.

Here is a picture that says it all. As soon as they get a little fuzzy you can see the nipples on the females.
