MBK pushing...

derekdehaas Nov 02, 2007 11:01 AM

i have a 06' female MBK which have a tiny bit swollen on the side of her lip and it's a bit red in a gum i think it's from pushing around too much. i'm just worried if it will not get better and can it be treated or will it go away? i was thinking of treating her with listerine with a cotton ball or q-tip? listerine is what i use to clean the snakes tubs/cages. anyway here's a details of how i care for her in case you ask...
she is housed in a 15 qt in a ap rack along with the warm end in the low 80's. and she is fed every 5 days to once a week. as with all of my snakes i use newspapers/water bowl and a plastic hide. thanks. oh and yes i feed f/t. also...no she does not have RI.

both of my mbk's also rub alot. i will apply a bit of neosporin to the sore area if thier is one and it will disappear after the next shed. with the neosporin make sure you dont use the pain relief one(in makes your snake very sluggish...learned by accident always read the med label first...)

i'll give that a shot, my male has a good looking pointy nose while my female is more of a short/flat (not too flat) and round i feel bad but otherwise she is healthy. thanks. ps- she dose not look all that hobble and messed up well not yet. you can hardly see it unless you look 4 inches close to her face.

I agree with using Neosporin..

Kings can be quite mobile. Consider a larger enclosure. Although a larger enclosure does not stop the king from trying to escape, it does lessen the attempts. I have found MBKs to be more at ease in roomy cages. Likely because desired thermoregulation is easier in a big cage compared to a 15qt box in a rack.
