I came accross the following lyrics when reading up on some old downhome blues. Anyone familiar with the expression "fattening frogs for snakes"? -- maybe I should try the gartersnake forum
-- In anycase, I got a kick out of the discovery and thought to share it. There's another tune called "New Crawlin' Kingsnake" which I can post if people express interest.
Enjoy:
FATTENING FROGS FOR SNAKES
It took me a long time
To find out my mistake
It took me a long time
To find out my mistake
But I’ll bet you my bottom dollar,
I’m not fattening no more frogs for snakes.
I found out my downfall
Back in nineteen and thirty-eight.
I found out my downfall
Back in nineteen and thirty-eight.
I’m telling all my friends:
I’m not fattening no more frogs for snakes.
Here it is, nineteen and fifty-seven;
I got to correct all of my mistakes.
Whoa, man, nineteen and fifty seven;
I got to correct all of my mistakes.
I’m telling my friends, including my wife and everybody else:
I’m not fattening no more frogs for snakes.
