HELP! CHOKING BABY GECKO

asterisk Nov 02, 2007 05:49 PM

I was feeding a baby leopard gecko (about 7-8 weeks old) and she started to suck in her pouch under her jaw, keep it there, and then puff it out big for a few seconds, then suck it in again.

I got her to open her mouth and I could see a little mealworm's head in the back of her throat. I put a bit of water in her mouth with a spoon, but I don't know what else to do.

Please help! Nothing like this happened before!

If the mealie is still there, do you have a pair of hemostats? Use those to reach in and dislodge the mealworm. Good luck.
