Now what have I done? (long post)

waspinator421 Nov 02, 2007 07:54 PM

Ok, well Aubrey was really really naughty this week and got a new BRB. I wasn't planning on getting any more this year, but of course once you say that you see something you want.

Well, a good pet store here in Madison had a 1.1 pair or BRBs, and the female was GORGEOUS! The price wasn't bad either! I had to buy the pair to get the female, and I am so glad I did. She is almost as yellow as Flax is. Hmmm..... perhaps they should meet in 2009?

Funny thing is that the pet store was told that they were both 4.5 years old. They are both very small if they are really that age. I can see the female being 4.5 if she wasn't fed very often, but the male is way too small to be that old. If he was fed at the same rate as the female I would guess he would be closer to 2.5 years old or less.

My goal is to get the girl up to breeding size by 2009. I would love to see what her and Flax produce! The male I do not plan to keep.

Here are a couple of quick pictures of the two. I named the girl Amethyst. They are temporarily sharing a tub right now.

Here is the little boy.

Hopefully this weekend will be sunny and I can get some decent pictures of Amethyst.

Yeah, I'll be there. I'll be there right away when it starts, when do you think you'll be wandering around?

The store is called Animart and it is up on Eagan Road (I think). I can give you directions if you need. They take really good care of their reptiles, and even take in rescues.

Great purchase, congrats. Yes, it would be interesting if you could breed your two yellow snakes, see what they produce. Hey, that male is no slouch either!

waspinator421 Nov 03, 2007 12:38 AM

Thanks! Yeah, hopefully they will throw more like themselves. I wonder what they look like as babies?? It will be interesting to see if they are normal looking babies that might possibly lose color as they grow, or if they come out looking this hot.

Hey now, I never said anything bad about that male. I already have a normal looking male, so that is why I won't be keeping him. He does have an ever so slight hint of red on him that is pretty neat though.

I know you didn't, I just like all of them. I'd never be able to make money breeding snakes, since I'd want to keep every last one!

I'd say that's a darn good reason to break your do not buy policy. Great looking snake, and I'm already excited to see what she and Flax will produce

Yeah I've made the same promise twice this year once in the summer when I had money, I told myself I wouldn't spend it on snakes but I would save it on school (that didn't last cause I bought a boaphile cage ) Then again earlier this semester I said no more, until I saw Serenity at the KC reptile show. Now however it's easy o keep my promise because I'm broke... The best way to quit cold turkey, run out of money to support your addiction But I'm still hoping for Christmas and birthday arrivals, probably won't happen but I can hope

Aubrey,
...Sometimes things come up in life that are just too good to pass up. You would have regretted it if you had passed up that female. She is fantastic.

Aubrey, I love that female! I hate you though -- I was going to go there this weekend to check out their reptiles. Damnit! I guess I'll be peeking around more often though...

Very nice addition!

Thanks Jen! Wow, I'm glad I saw it before you did, lol!

They have a decent reptile section there, at least more than your average pet store. Last time I was there they were a bit low on stock, but they have a ton of Ball Pythons right now.
