I agree with Jimmy! Looks like a Caramel, not an amber. That's just my $.02.

from all the pictures I've seen and everything I've heard I would have to say that is a normal Caramel.
All the ambers I could find pictures of show much much lower levels of black rather then thin but normal density black markings.
may be wrong but i would take it up with the person who sold it since it does not look amber at all. Was it a shipped animal or did you go pick it up?
Sean.

I bought it at the sac reptile show 2 years ago. (its 2yrs old this year)
I love the snake and would not send it back, even if it was only a baby still. The coloring is great, in my opinion. I just wanted to know its genetics.
Thanks Again

Looks caramel to me. I'll post a pic of my amber later this afternoon.
. . . it's amber or caramel.
I'm betting this one and the one above that you asked about are neither, but are het caramel.

that would be rather upsetting. I figured the one that I got as an adult, with all the red was not. But the one with all the gold, does not look normal at all. I figured it had to be one of the two. Well, I have some definite carmels that I will breed it to to find out in a year or so.
Thanks for the feedback.

After looking at the pix again on my main computer (more realistic colors), the top pic could be a caramel, but I'm not seeing signs of amber. Of course, anything's possible. I've seen ambers darker than caramels and vice versa. Fingers crossed. Sorry for potential distress over my initial evaluation on a bad computer monitor.
Good luck,
hey Don, your feedback is always welome. I am leaning towards caramel as well.
Funny thing is, should I change her name? I named her Amber because she was sold to me as an amber. lol
Kinda takes away the whole thing if shes a caramel!!

Looked at the pix on four computers now and it's definitely not an amber. Of course, it could be het hypo, so getting ambers out of it is not yet out of the question.

do you think it is possibly a caramel?
thanks

Yes, I think it's a caramel, but definitely not an amber.

now, what to do about the name.....
Now she is Amber, the caramel corn. lol
I will be breeding her to find out her genetics. The plan is to breed her to a caramel mot, I think. I have not totally decided.
