CH Yellowbelly...

JenHarrison Nov 03, 2007 02:41 AM

Took some new pics of this little guy today -- I'd be really shocked if he doesn't prove out. Yellowbellies have really dropped in price but I don't care -- this guy looks killer regardless of genetics. The blushed areas are really becoming bright and obvious as he's grown past the 300g mark. It really brings out his bright colors and nice pattern.

He wouldn't cooperate to let me get a shot of his side flames, so here's a pic I took back when I first got him:

He looks great! Good luck with him!

I love those flames on him. Really nice animal. Who'd you get him from?

JenHarrison Nov 04, 2007 01:55 AM

Someone named Rolland Felton. He had posted him back in May on the KS classifieds, and I'd been looking for a yellowbelly for awhile but thought most were ugly or plain. Then I saw this guy, and was like, WHOA! He blows most proven yellowbellies out of the water IMO.

I agree, he's very nice. It's not often you see the flames go all the way over the back like that.

VERY NICE!! Nice clean pattern. He should most definitely prove out for you.

Here are some pics of a super screamer male we produced this season (our last clutch of the season) from a c.h. female that we purchased from one of my employees. We thought she might be a Yb as she showed the characteristics but we did not feel strong enough to put her with our YB breeder male. She produced 3.1 Yb's and 1.1 normals. All of the male Yb's are screamers but this male is the best I have seen yet of any yb's which is why we are holding him back for a future breeder specially since he is from out own line now. He looks this good and has not even had his first shed yet. I can't wait until he sheds!

Now THAT is a nice proven one! That's what I was looking for but couldn't find -- the ones for sale at the time all looked so normal minus the belly. I wanted major flames and bright colors. Very cool new line and good luck! I wonder if super-nice YB's produce brighter/cleaner ivories?

I am a firm believer in that better looking breeders is the way to go. I have searched through many thousands c.h. babies over the years to find better looking normals/abbarents for future breeders and have searched through most of the morphs that I own to hand pick the best looking animals out as well. I have been lucky in that a good number of the abbarents I have picked out have proven to be genetic of some sorts. I have proven a cinna-granite line, dominant Banded/reduced pattern, Yellow Belly, and of course my "new Morph" (which we are now calling "cosmic's) line which was bred into pastels to produce our Sunburst pastel morph. (which 1 can be seen on NERD's new morph page).

That's exactly how I am -- I wait until I can find exactly what I want in an animal, even with my normal breeder girls. I'm after the nicest ones I can find because I believe it will produce nicer offspring as a result. We'll see how it all works out this spring! I'm hoping this YB may go later if he keeps eating so well. He's growing like a weed!

Your sunburst pastels are really neat, I had saved the baby pics you had posted when they hatched to a folder I keep of BP morphs. Beautiful!
