Granite Jaguar?

FireStorm Nov 03, 2007 08:21 AM

I just saw the Granite Jaguar and Pink Phase Granite Jaguar pictures posted below, and they're amazing! What is the difference between the Granite Jaguar and the Pink Phase Granite Jaguar? Also, Granite is a recessive trait, right?

Thanks,
Shelly

I produced some Granite Jags this season, and I had gray white GJs and 1 pink phase. When they came out of the eggs the pink phase was pink.
While the others where white and gray, they are now changing color to yellowish. While the Pink is turning a amazing yellow/beige. depending on mood and time of day.

Mine is 50% WP and 50% Mcdowelli.

While PRs is 75% WP and 25% coastal.

Great, thanks for the info. I thought they had to have some WP in there somewhere, but I wasn't 100% sure. I'm more familiar with BP genetics, but I really want to add some carpets as soon as I make up my mind on what I want.

Thanks again,
Shelly

Shelly, the granite is a recessive trait, which came from Irian Jaya/West Paupan pythons. I believe only one granite was produced last year in the US. They originated in Europe, and that is why the European breeders have such fantastic combinations with their carpet projects. We, in the US, are a bit behind, but are getting there.

Thanks for the info, Justin. I really appreciate it. I still have trouble with which morphs go with which subspecies. I can't wait to get my carpet project started(or projects if I still can't make up my mind). I'm hoping that by this spring I'll be set up for it. I guess until then I'll just have to drool over everyone else's awesome animals. Btw, you guys have some gorgeous Jungles. Skunk is amazing!

Thanks again,
Shelly
