He currently is in a fish tank (40 or 50 gallon). The lid is sectioned into 2. One side has aluminum foil with duct tape over it, the other side is plexiglass with vent holes drilled into it. I have coconut husk for the substrate. An 8x8 under the tank heat pad on the warm end (which is currently at 75*, the cool end is 66* - it got too cold in the room last night and I just found out there's problems with the room heater staying on). The humidity gauge just says "HI". Last night before I went to bed it said 92%.

First off you need to adjust your temps. The hot side should be about 90 and the cool side can go 75-80ish. How damp is your substrate? Sounds pretty wet . That alone would put your humidity way up there. It will dry out eventually and your humidity will drop as it does. I use 50 gallon tanks for the few I have and have found that if you take a piece of 3/8th inch plywood, cut it to fit the lip of the frame on top you can clip your screen top on over that. You can either drill several half inch holes in the plywood for ventilation or you can cut it to only go about three quarters of the lenght of the tank which will also alow for ventilation. In reality balls don't need more than 50-60 percent humidity to do well. You can bump it up during sheds though. Just some thoughts on the whole thing.

I dried the substrate out on a trash bag for 2 nights. It was a little damp. I'm working on the heat. Our temps (outside) are fluxuating (today our high is 64 and tomorrow 75). I'm going to go get a new electric heater for the living room, the temps are finally going up. I'm up to 72/75.

yeah you really need to do something about the heat.. with that low of a high side temp and the amount of humidity you have to really worry about respiratory infection. also how long has the coconut husk been in the tank? if its been like a week or so. it will dry on its on if u can get the temps high enough. u might want to thank about putting another heat pad on the back side of the tank to raise the ambient temps. just make sure the snake cannot lay against the glass where you put the back heat at. doesnt sound like u can use a heat lamp so thats probably your best bet

I have a low wattage heat lamp from the small tank, that it still zip tied to the small screen. but I do have it against the big tank (the bulb isn't touching the tank). The temps are slowly rising, but humidity has decreased visually since this morning (no condensation in the tank), but the hyg. gauge hasn't changed a bit (still says "HI". The coconut was on the garbage back for 2 days, pretty much completely dry, and this is it's 2nd day in the tank.

It make take some time for the humidity guage to dry out. If moisture gets inside the sensor area or it gets wet it will read "HI" for a while until it drys. If you take it out of the tank it will probably dry faster.

OK, humidity is still up. The warm end is 82* and the cool end is 78*. This dig temp/humid gauge has only been in the tank since yesterday evening.
