So we were just outside boulder today and we sat down to eat lunch on this abandoned prairie dog hole. When I looked down in it a yearling-ish bull snake was looking back at me. Last night was down to 31 degrees! the air temp today was around 68, although the sunny ground was quite a bit warmer.

tried to grab him for a quick photo op but he took off down the burrow

Good looking shot. Snakes are where you find them!

Did you seriously flip that log and find all three of those or was that posed?
