What are your thoughts on a 16' by 8' by 8' cage for a trio of salvadorii. Will this be large enough to accomidate a trio It is the max I can build the enclosure. THanks Ian

While that is not a small cage, its not very big considering whats goin in it.

About a trio, How about a pair. When ever your attempting a breeding project, you should start with what has the best chance of being successful and have the Least problems. That would be a pair. Any more individuals without question, INCREASE the chance of problems.

My best advice is to use the largest area you can and keep it as simple as you can.

Many many people somehow think they can increase the chances of being successful, by having more females. In my opinion, its backwards, the more animals you have, the harder it is. ANd that is triple, when you are new the the subject.

You biggest effort should be finding a good pair. That is the best you can do. Not hoping for the best by having more then one female.

To clarify that, if you raised up a trio of littermates, then that would be no extra problems(most likely) In reality, your most likely going to get individuals unknown to eachother(WC), which makes it three times the problems.

Back to the size of the cage. It really is not about what it sounds like to me. Its more about what "YOU" understand about that species. All cages do is enclose the needs of those animals. Can you include what croc monitors are looking for, in that cage. Cheers

That cage is plenty big enough (relative to the fact that all cages are too small). Crocs are way over rated in size. But as Frank says, it's what you do with it.
