Temp question...

pfan151 Nov 04, 2007 05:19 PM

How warm do you guys keep the warm side of your enclosure. I am big into ball pythons, and just finally got around to picking up a few Hondos that I have wanted for years ever since I first saw the albino tri's in Daytona. I got a male albino tangerine and 2 hets, 1.1 extreme hypo, a 0.1 dbl het alb/hypo. I have not found too many sites with good care sheets yet. Right now I have them set up in a rack that is set at 88 on the hot side and about 75-76 on the cool side. Let me know if this is ok and any web pages I should check out. Thanks.

I would say that 88 is a bit to hot unless they can really get away from it.You can check my site for some further info.

Your site is great, thanks. The bins they are going in are 7.5" inches wide, and 18" deep with 3" heat tape along the bottom at the back three inches of the tub. The problem I have is that I keep my hatchling ball pythons in the top of the rack so I can't go too much cooler than 88. If you don't think that will work well could you recommend a good 6 slot rack that could hold them as adults?

I don't think that milks and balls do good in the same rack. They have very different requirments. I really don't know of any good racks on the market and thats why I have always built my own. I am sure there are some out there and somebody on this site will be able to help.
The biggest problem I see is that even though allot of these milks are from rainforest type climates the need to be kept dry with a water source. They have health problems when kept to moist/damp and thats what will happen if they are kept at 88 etc...
I am not sure how your set up is but if your snake room ambiant temp is around 80 then thats as low as they will be able to get.Its nice if they can regulate there own temps from about 72-82.

Good luck.

My room stays around 72-73. I guess I will just pick up a new rack for them. Thanks for the help.
