Largest Tubs/ Huge Cages/Etc.

GrotesqueBurgess Nov 04, 2007 09:48 PM

Who carries the absolute largest tubs/plastic containers?

And who carries low-cost cages suitible for huge snakes?

And lastly, is there any website that gives instructions on how to build a large python cage step by step (like one section on doors, one section on framing, etc.)?

I'm trying to figure out what is the best, more cost efficient way to provide adult-size housing for two burmese pythons.
They aren't anywhere close to growing out of the cages they are in now, but I need to be prepared. Thanks in advance.

http://www.visionproducts.us/htm7/tubs.html check the ones at the bottom of the page.

Cheaper if you build yourself; http://www.habitatsystemsltd.com/

Not that I know of.

The vision tubs are the biggest but they are also pretty expensive. Sterilite makes a 76 qt tub that you can find at target which is the biggest I have seen. Measures 49 by 20 I believe. Also check out reptiletubs.com. they have some like the CB75 that are 22x 39. Just beware that their height measurements that they advertise are with the tops on. I found that out the hard way and ended up with much shorter tubs than I wanted.

As far as a website for building... you're on it. Ask and ye shall receive.

I did the search for low cost cages for Burms and settled on Animal Plastics. Of course, it's much cheaper to build yourself...but I just didn't want to! I did a search for 'burmese python cage' and found a nice plan on the web.

1) Try the Vision tubs or the VE-175 Iris box from Reptiletubs.com.

2) Don't know.

3) Not really as plans almost always need to be modified and everyone has their own tastes. Basically there is really no need to have step-by-step plans for building a box.

I'm trying to figure out what is the best, more cost efficient way to provide adult-size housing for two burmese pythons.

Best and cost efficient do not always go hand-in-hand. Best I would say would be to modify a room in your home if possible. This could easily turn out to be the cheapest way as well. I have seen a few walk-in closets converted into snake cages that were absolutely incredible.

I really like this website for good building tips-
For cage building check out the “Basic Cage Building 101” page, with pictures and lots of ideas. There is also mini articles on wiring flex-watt, building racks, incubators, etc. Any cage plans can be super sized for pythons with planning and asking around for advice! Good luck.
