Breeding Combos?

Lamiellm Nov 05, 2007 09:53 AM

Ok this is my plan for my first breeding season! I plan on using a male pastel to a female pastel, a female cinnamon, a female mojave, and a female spider. What will my clutch results be?? I think I got it right but I might be a little off. Just want to make sure im on the same page!!

Pastel x Pastel: 25% Super Pastels, 50% Pastels, and 25% Normals
Pastel x Cinny: 25% Pewters, 25% Pastels, 25% Cinnies, and 25% Normals
Pastel x Mojave: 25% Pasel Mojaves, 25% Pastels, 25% Mojaves, and 25% Normals
Pastel x Spider: 25% Bees, 25% Pastels, 25% Spiders, and 25% Normals.

Of course, your actual odds may be different. It looks like you should have a great year, assuming the ball gods cooperate. Good luck!

Hppe this helps,
Shelly

I know this wasn't the question and everyone should breed what they want and like, but if I had those females ready to go this year there are many other males that I would want to breed them to before a pastel. At the very least explore a double co-dom breeder male (they have gotten very reasonable). A small investment in a double co-dom male would at least double your morph production. With all that said, you really can't go wrong with that stable of females for your first breeding season. Good luck!

What would you suggest going with? Im not too good with genetics as you can tell lol

Wallbanger26 Nov 05, 2007 12:53 PM

You can probably find a cheap (like $1500 maybe)Super pastel breedable male. At least you would completely eliminate all possibilities of normals. You'd get pastels, super pastel, pewters, bumblebees, pastaves, and no mormals.

Lamiellm Nov 05, 2007 05:09 PM

So what would I get if I bred the super pastel to the females?? If I breed super pastel to normal then I would get all pastels correct?

Lamiellm Nov 05, 2007 07:13 PM

Breed the super pastel male to the spider, mojave, pastel, and cinnamon females?

FireStorm Nov 05, 2007 07:34 PM

You're right, Super Pastel x Normal = all Pastels.

Super Pastel x Spider = 50% Bumblebees and 50% Pastels
Super Pastel x Mojave = 50% Pastel Mojaves and 50% Pastels
Super Pastel x Cinny = 50% Pewters and 50% Pastels
Super Pastel x Pastel = 50% Super Pastels and 50% Pastels

Hope this helps,
Shelly

An Axanthic to a super pastel?

FireStorm Nov 06, 2007 05:49 AM

You'd get Pastels 100% Axanthic.

Then, if you bred a Pastel Het. Axanthic to an Axanthic you'd get 25% Axanthic Pastels, 25% Axanthics, 25% Pastels 100% Het Axanthic, and 25% Normals 100% Het Axanthic.

If you bred 2 Pastel Het. Axanthics together you would get 6.25% (that's A 1/16 chance) Super Pastel Axanthics, 37.5% Pastels Poss. Het. Axanthic, 18.75% Normals Poss. Het. Axanthic, 6.25 % Axanthics, 12.5% Pastel Axanthics, and 18.75% Super Pastels Poss. Het Axanthic.

Hope this helps,
Shelly

Now don't get me wrong, you have a great collection of animals there and you will be producing alot of things with them if the females all go this season for you. But what are you going to do with all those babies? I hope hold them all back because how can you sell something you don't know much about and haven't put in the time to research very basic genetics? A very quick search on here or google could have given you all the info you needed to know and then some. Sorry for venting but this type of question gets asked here multiple times every week and quite honestly, it gets old people not putting in the research or effort to learn before they start breeding or keeping these animals.
