Corn hybrid MARKET, burning out or ??

HerpZillA Nov 05, 2007 03:52 PM

I know a touchie subject. But at the last show I saw some hybrids. Much cheaper than I thought they would be at this time. My wholesale lists also have a ton. Alos a lot more interest in various rat snakes this year. That was not happening the past 3-4 years. I do get a few people at the shop asking for them. I tell them we don't carry them for now, go to a show if you really want one.

I do understand the impact of hybriding the most popular snake the corn. My question is:

Is the market burning out? To many hybrid corns produced? Lack of knowledge by newbies? Or your own opinion.

It's just something I see going on with in the corn snake market.

I was speaking of jungles. turbos, fuel injectors, body lifts, or what ever name they use.

Price being as low or lower than most "pure" snakes means to many for demand. IMHO

in my honest opinion in is not that their is to much supply and not enough demand its just that turbo corns and jungles are normally ugly as he@% compared to a lot of the newer hybrids that are on the market. they have also been around for along time and arent "the rage".
i have people calling me all the time about sinacorns and the bells sell out of sinacorns the first few weeks they have them and their pueblacorns. the ones that arent selling, that do look good are over priced like many of the imperiel(sp) pueblans that we see in the classifieds. they are really nice looking animals but at lets say 200 dollers their usually not worth it. thier is also the thought process of "well why would i buy that if i can make them myself" i see this quite often but many dont succeed.
they dont understand that it normally takes 2 generations to start getting good looking hybrids
what is popular lately is pueblan crosses for one pueblans are prolific breeders and they dont give that muddy wash look like the cal king genes do. but the ones i see selling are around $100,$150 for extremely awesome ones. well im rambling and not really answering your question all that well. its late ill try agin in the morning
