no incubater Q?

ChristopherD Nov 06, 2007 06:54 AM

i had a pair breed late in the season, and got eggs which at normal temps would be due to hatch in a week, but its been getting chilly lately and temp in the incubater have dropped to as low as 69-70*F . What do you think will be the outcome?

I have incubated eggs in tupper ware boxes with plain old moist potting soil with a regular heating pad that you can get at any pharmicy- that has low med and high settings on it. I set the pad on the low setting, put a waterproof thermomiter in the box and found that the pad keeps the box at around 85 degrees which is perfect for hatching eggs. Id give it about 80 days roughly. I do put some holes in the side of the box for ventilation yet made sure to watch for small knats and them laying their eggs on and around the eggs- which can hatch into maggots and potenatially eat your eggs. If any of this is stuff you already know, forgive me. Hope your eggs turn out well!!!

I was thinking they would be the last "07s",Not the first "08s"

Chris,
Switch up the incubator.
What is your incubator like right now?

If you can get them into a rubbermaid with perlite, a water bowl, and a heat pad under the water bowl, you could probably get the temperature in there back around 82.
