Government Agencies, sheesh

I'm in the middle of cleaning aquatics at the moment but I had to stop & post this because it's so IMO stupid.

One of our teachers in the vet-tech program has snagged the director of Animal Services to come to one of her classes to speak on local issues pertaining to animals.
She wanted to know if I want to attend so that I can ask questions of him myself. You bet, I'll be there on the 30th.

She said she'd vaguely asked him what's up with this box turtle rule that if you have more than 6 you're considered a breeder or whatever. She said a lot of people ask questions about turtles and other exotics so when he comes to speak she'd like for him to address some of those issues.
He had never heard about any of this. I guess the state doesn't inform city governments about anything that's going on?

It'll be interesting to see what I can find out locally.

Sorry I took so long to get back. I work at the college on Wednesdays & Thursdays (I'm an adjunct) which makes me so busy on those days that I don't get time to do much at home other than take care of everybody who needs feeding LOL.
PH stands for Pet Hobbyist, people with that in front of the name are board and/or chat moderators and/or hosts for PetHobbyist/Kingsnake.com.

After talking yesterday to the other teacher at the college who's a full timer and arranged to have the Animal Services director come to speak at the end of the month.. I found out from her conversation with him that I was right all along. Our city code is written in vague terms so that they do have wiggle room to either allow people their "exotic" animals or they can take them away if they are not being cared for properly.
There are certain species you cannot have in the city limits no ifs ands or buts (like monkeys) but he didn't seem to be concerned at all about people having harmless reptiles like turtles or tortoises, small snakes, lizards. I think their main concern is that people aren't keeping animals that can be a danger to humans such as venomous or those that carry can serious zoonotic diseases, like monkeys.
What Parks & Wildlife is doing impacts Animal Services, it would have to but they don't seem to communicate with one another so what would that mean to me? I have no idea right now.
It'll be interesting to find out in person what he has to say.
