season highlights (jaap's tricolors)

jawn Nov 06, 2007 04:37 PM

I would have to say that these were a few of the nicest tricolors to pop out from Jaap's lines here in Canada this year. These were my favourites from the 5 clutches to hatch so far.

What can I say... I am a sucker for wide bands!

I was not expecting these! I believe the father was a tricolor hypo from Terry Dunham although it may have been my tangerine male from Jaap .. hard to say.

Group shot

Check out the belly on this tricolor .. looks albino. The mother has a paternless belly and I have noticed this trait in other hatchlings from his bloodlines also.

Nice tricolor

Nice pinner (belly is patternless also)

I have a nice clean 3 yr old het for hypo male I am looking for a female for. What do you get if you cross a normal with a tricolor, some of each?

Those are for sure the best I have seen of the Hypo Tricolors.

Those are bloody awesome

That a lot of Jaap line hypos have the same underdeveloped scales on the head? Same with my female below.

I was just talking to some friends about that recently. I hatched a few with a mild version of it and then this one with it bad.

(there was also this 'ultralight' hypo which seems way out of place in this clutch .. He looks like the father and the rest are a lot like the mother)

Sadly in this case it seems like this head thing is genetic. Hopefully it can be weeded out and doesn't cling to the crazy looking snakes!

Next year I plan to use a different male with all 3 females so it will be interesting to see if this trait sticks around or dissapears.

that same kinda head thing going on...but this one is from triple het breeding. She hasn't had any problems...and she's growing fast.

Very nice Jon. You sure did great on your first year[I am correct on that?] of production. Do you still have the aberrant Ghost I sold you? I'd love to see a pic of that. Tom Stevens

Ya it was my first year believe it or not! I even lost count of my clutches .. I think I have hatched 10 and have 1 more to go? Should be a total of about 70 babies. With all the work it sure seems like I am gaining experience quickly!

Tom, here he is .. he's a tank!

...those are some truly spectacular pinband tricolor hypos - probably the best I've ever seen.
