Opinions on breeding size/age

CherylBald Nov 07, 2007 11:56 AM

I have a female het clown that was a year old in Sept. Right now she's at 1375 grams. If it were you, would you put her in the breeding rotation later this season if she makes 1500 grams? She's a great eater, never misses a meal and is my "clean up" for extra rats. She's big, not fat.

My first impulse is to wait for next season. Second thought is I'd sure like to try for a clown NOW!

Opinions, please.

I'd wait until next season. She'll be twice the size and more likely to give you healthy fertile eggs.
