toad ID if possible

chenderson421 Nov 07, 2007 12:24 PM

ill start with where i found it...

West central TX in taylor county rural area at least 1/2 mile from closest pond - found around in-laws house in a newly developed area

i found a few here... they are a light gray off whiteish color the largest being almost 1 in. the smallest being a little under 1/2 in.

the reason i wanted to know is so i can collect some next summer and possible breed some for some picky hognose...

I'm sure you now this, but a picture is worth a thousand words. If you could put up a picture, it would be much more helpful for identifying your toad.

yes, i know a picture is usually what it takes... unfortunately i did not think to take one when i had the toads.. i did however take a few and release them at my house in the hope they would survive and maybe reproduce... we shall see

Check the above link. If you are in Abilene area it is probably the Texas toad. They are generally patternless or have a few specks.

I used to live in the Merkel area.

Are your hogs from that area?
