DKiM128 Aug 23, 2003 07:40 PM

I was planning on making a vertical ten gallon tank. Anyone have any good websites, or photos showing how you set it up?

hey all you have to do is cut a piece of plexy glass get it at home depot or someplace like that 1/4 inch preferably. If you cut it yourself use a table saw and tape the whole length of the cut on both sides so it wont splinter. Anyway cut it to about 5 or six inches high by whatever the with of the tank eight or ten inches i think. after that use some two part epoxy and spread it along the plastic part of the tank. After, quickly put the plexy glass in place. give it a day or two to cure even if it is 5 minute epoxy it will still outgas for a few days after hardening. now give it a water test. fill the bottom section that you just made with a few inches of water. if it leaks use some aquarium grade silicone to seal the whole inside seam. for the top section you can either get creative and make a plaxyglass door with hinges or take a screen top and coat most of it in plastic (green duct tape works well) just remember to make a little lip that fits over the bottom section so that condensation does not drip between the layers. e-mail me for detailed pictures of mine. themoron00@hotmail.com

To be honest a 15gal high is much simpler to use. I have one I am building for my imitators and here is the latest pic:

I picked it up for $19, and a normal 10gal lid fits for about $10 or so. I tad more than a 10gal, but less trouble if you ask me.

Where's the pump? And do you filter or just allow the plants to clean with the root system? Will you place live moss over the gravel?

The pump is under the gravel on the back left corner, and yes I have moss and 1 more plant on the way.
