Squirt hates CGD!

AndrewFromSoCal Nov 07, 2007 07:32 PM

And now, he doesn't want to eat any babyfood, either.

Can an animal be "starved" into eating something like CGD? Not starving, obviously, but has anyone gotten their Crested to eat CGD by offering nothing else?

Ok, I apologize, but I forget how old Squirt is... is it possible that it is just metabolism slowing down due to age? How long since his/her last meal?

I have heard of people offering nothing but, certainly we have all heard of people trying that with leos to get them to eat mealworms in a bowl. I don't know if that is the right course because I feel bad about doing that to a gecko.

Guess you could always try to the new(ish) universal MRP with the flavors, I only keep one crested, I don't think they come in small bags and I'm not sure how long it lasts, but who knows.

I'm voting something is off, maybe your CGD is older than 6 months? Maybe you mixed it just slightly differently? (Ours can be that picky) or maybe just getting older.

Squirt is about 10 months old now.

He last ate Friday night. It's been 5 days.

I picked up some new baby-food, 1 peach (WAS his favorite), 1 banana, 1 pear. I'll snag a new bottle of CGD tomorrow.

I hate school for making me busy lately. I just want my freaking animals to be normal, dangit!

Sorry to hear you are so stressed. I went pretty wacko when our first female leo did her "I'm on a hunger strike until you get me a mate" month of not eating when I was in the middle of my PhD exams. I'm pretty sure *my* boyfriend wanted to kick us both out. Her for not eating, but not showing signs of egg production and me for hovering and freaking out.

You know, they could just be picking up on your stress too. Especially if you keep them in an area that you spend a lot of time in. Just a thought. PM me if you need to vent in long form, I'll listen, may not have anything good to say, but I'm thinking of becoming a psychologist because I'm tired of engineers, it'd be good practice.

PS If you are worried and stressed just toss some crickets in, you know they'll eat them and worry about the CGD in a few days.

first of all i would stop offering the baby food as it is not a healthy food for them, stop feeding any insects and get some cgd put some in and leave it for two days as some cresties like their cgd well aged feed 3 times a week eventually squirt will eat the cgd thay will not starve them selfs if food is available after he gets to where he is cleaning his bowl you can add insects back to the diet once a week and only provide a few. or don't provide insects as thay are not needed, the cgd is a fully complete diet.
