Since it looks like my Jamaican boa is going to give birth next year I really would like some help and advice about the buying and selling of endangered species. I was told that since my boas where captive born in the same state I’m in it was legal for me to buy them with out a permit. I’m not sure if this is true or not. I would really appreciate any advice or info on the subject. I would hate to get in trouble or lose my collection because of my ignorance. I’m a little scared and unsure about selling the babies when I have them.

gravid exactly what you mean. Do you mean it is or you hope to breed it next year? Jamaican Boas normally breed in March and April and have babies in late August thru Oct. They will sometimes breed at odd times but I've never seen a sucessfully pairing except in the time frames I've given. Epicrates subflavus in an endangered species and can't be cold in interstate commerce without a permit. They can be sold in intrastate commerce without permits. thanks....TC

I put my pair of Jamaican boas together in sept. They started to breed right away and now the female has a very large swelling in the last third of her body. She is very firm and I'm sure she is gravid. Only time will tell, I will post pics of her litter.

dose anyone have any info on who to contact for permits? What permits do I need? Do I need them and the buyer?

Very nice! Jamaicans are beautiful boas; I owned 2.2 and sold them before I reproduced them.

Once the adults settle in and don't must so much they're a pleasure to work with.
