Motley Albino/Ghost clutch outcome

JasonW Nov 08, 2007 12:09 PM

Dose somone have a towel to dry my tears? Under the sugestions of replys on this forum and emails I got on the subject I opened the final 8 eggs that failed to open themselves. The out come was 2 live apparently healthy corns and 7 either still born or dead shortly there after. I took picture but will not subject you to the sight I had to clean up. Most of those that didn't make it either were rittled with kinks or had a big bubble rite on top of there heads. Unfortunately there was one snow in the clutch witch is what I was praying for but it was still born. The ones that made it are no doubt a awesome site on there own, One is apparently a very light regular albino, fading to almost a whitish/pink color with faded markings towards the tail. The other at first looked like a normal corn but after further inspection may have received more of the Ghost gene as it seems to be lightening and fading a little more each day. I have chosen not to sell the 2 that made it but rather keep them in my collection and since this is the females 2nd clutch that really was a disaster I am debating weather or not to even breed her again.

sorry for your loss. i had the same thing happen to me two years in a row with my butters. the third season i bred my female butter to a motley sunglow and all hatched out fine. sometimes certain snakes just don't mix.

Well I purchased the male and female at the same time from the same tank and they came from the same breeder. I was told by a person more familure with genetics than I that its posable they are related witch could cause never ending problems with breeding them

Actually that's not the case. Sibling snakes are bred togather quite frequently without any ill effects. The reason why we have so many morphs is because genetically related snakes were bred togather over and over again, to perpetuate those traits.

There are many, many reasons why breedings are not always successful. As the previous person said, sometimes two snakes aren't compatable. Other factors, such as the health of the adults and incubation conditions, can significantly influence breeding outcomes.

Nature never intended every snake in a clutch to survive. In some cases, Nature never intends for any snakes in a clutch to survive. That's the "wild card" we face when working with animals.

You lost me
I can't quite see how a book on English grammer is going to help him figure out what happened to the clutch.
Or a picture of Jerry Lewis?????
What am I missing here?

Wow, and I thought I had wandered away from the ball python forum...
Seriously, people come here for help, and they get made fun of. That's some spectacular community building.

Yeah, I know, you guys are right. I do apologize.

But damn, it gets so frustrating reading post after post from people who can understand reptile genetics and yet have such a primitive command of the English language. We do live in the age of spell check, after all...

If people don't start calling things out, things will never change. The emperor has no clothes. Pull the funnel out of your ear.

can't we all just get along...
sorry, just had to throw that in there....lol

I know I gave you a hard time but I also understand, to a point, what you are saying...
I just feel like I'm over at CS.com when I see posts like that.
Let's just try to leave that on the other forums.
They rip us for being antagonistic when I really feel we are no where near as bad as they are...let's just try keep it that way.

you're still tops in my book
I don't know how Jason feels about it but if it was me, the apology would be 100% accepted.

Of course I accept however I have not been around a few days and must get my reply anger out. Excuse me for not spelling or using proper gramer, Imagine how annoyed my wife must be, Uneducated people like me should be put to sleep so we don't create other uneducated people. Kiss my butt. if you don't like it don't read my posts. I don't recall seeing you here much, are you new to the forum? If so you will see we are a close bunch of people that care more about helping each other than having a hard time reading a post, Regardless of what is written we are not all created equal so get a grip and deal with it, use a the couple of brain cells you have to help others rather than criticize anyone here, and with all the pun intended again "kis mi but" PS I know that was spelled wrong and this message was checked by the spell checker included with my fire fox program so if there are any problems and I a pretty sure my computer is clean please forward all complaints to the Mozilla customer service. For those of you to busy looking for people to make fun of I have taken the liberty to get the address to complain about such problems because they are likely to be ignored here. go here http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38 to complain about the Mozilla spell check. Ok I think I go that all out, On that note the 2 that survived are doing well now. I plan on offering them food in the next couple days. God I Still cant believe most of my replys were about my spelling rather than the problem I had with my eggs. Thanks to everyone who stuck up for me and yes sheshanaga you are forgiven, just don't let it happen again and I hope I did not make you strain to hard while reading this
