Super cinny/ Super black pastel

krhodes Nov 08, 2007 12:25 PM

I've seen very few posted on websites and never any in the classifieds. Can anyone give me an idea why? Are there just not very many around? There are lots of cinnys for sale and a few black pastels for sale, I'd think that many are breeding for the supers.

thanks

The reason you don't see many supers is because they tend to be deformed and have a "duckbill" appearance. I have seen super blacks that are not as bad as super cinnies, and I think it was the Sutherlands who produced a cinny to a black pastel this year and got essentailly the same snake with noticeably less deformities. You might be able to find a pic of it on their website. I bet there are more people that you think working with and trying to tweak some combo here to make the all black snake.

alot of people keep them

some are deformed as mentioned with a "Roman Nose" or a left lip or raised lip like the first 2 produced by Gulf Coast in 2002....

.......word is to better breed a black to a cinny like was mentioned....and that's what I will do......

alot of people are mixing the cinnies and blacks to make all the other odd stuff also , so there aren't as many as there could be.

.....the cinny and black pastels are o cheap now.....make your own......make alot of them...........

They Ian G line black pastels seem to make the best supers, with the least amount of deformities, but a lot of breeders are keeping them to go for silver streaks.

I just bought a black female from Ian last Saturday........
ate twice already...a rat then a mouse....making sure it eats both........the pin ate both also......(not same day).....

........I figure mix cinny with the blacks (get more black females) and pastels, maybe albino or mojave ,maybe the pinny with a cinny?.....

The Ian G. line of black pastel was bought by Ian from Gulf Coast. So that comment should have been "the GCR line produces the best......."

Actually it is not. Ian sold the " labyrinth balls" that Gulf Coast sold him as the produced defective offspring.
He then brought in his own line of BLACK PASTEL, and named them black pastels, not labyrinths. That name was then taken and used by other breeders.
Its not that hard to see, Ian's line is the best looking and has the least problems with defects.

Not trying to take anything from Gulf Coast BUT Ian's line is the best, and the proof is in the offspring........

actually Ian actually sold some of the "labrynth" as black pastels the same year he bought them. It wasn't until the following year that he purchased "his" line and still another before he produced from it. This is what I was told by him not GCR in 2004. He then bred the GCR line into the line he imported crossing the lines. Either way I like black pastel's better than cinnies.

Here is a pic of our male black pastel from GCR, he has the most contrast of any black pastel I have ever seen.

Ian said "buy black" people want blacks not really cinny....cinny don't sell as well.....the blacks are selling......in those words or similar as hell.....

I figure with the prices what they are I'll get a male cinny and another pair of black pastels.......

and the one I got already is nice and has the good contrast......

......I just hop that after all this talk he has some left.......

......./////////........wonder is he has any mojave girls left.......hmmmmmmmmmm.........

..and is there a pinny cinny made yet?.......(using black even).....?????

The nose thing has nothing to do with that. The reason you don't see many super cinnies is the same reason you don't see many super anythings. Adult female morphs are not all that abundant and a lot of folks use them to make new combos instead of supers.

Think about it this way: How many white snakes do you really see???? Not very many for all the hets out there...yellow bellies, mojavies, butters, lessers, fires. There aren't even that many super pastels around considering how many pastels are out there.
