mouses first litter

handofmidas Nov 08, 2007 05:28 PM

i just started breeding feeder mice as a way to save money. but the first set i had after i took out a baby the female ate her young, cuz of strees im guessing? so my question is was it just a crazy mouse(i got a new set of 1.2) or should i wait longer before taking out the pinks to feed? either way im going to move them to a less traffic area. thanks.

Sometimes a mommamouse will kill her first litter so I have read and been told. I had a mouse do that to me when I first started breeding. It pissed me off so she got fed off. Since then from limited exeperiance I have not had this problem. My mice are in a very low traffic area by the way. Good luck

I find that mice are timid and don't like noises.
Keep them in a quiet low traffic area and the cannabilism won't be a problem.
Some first time mommies are stresed out because it's their first litter, give her another chance.
