snake pics

Nokturnel Tom Nov 08, 2007 11:22 PM

I have been sick for a while and now I'm playing catch up in the snake room. I always snap off a few pics during spot cleaning and watering, these are not too happening but they're better than nothing.
First is my breeder female MBK. She is a knockout.

Next is a nice cross, I hope she produces next season

Here's my brute het Peanut Butter male. This guy is always a little high strung but lately he will attack you as if he hasn't seen food in a year

Here's one of my breeder het White Wall Speckled Kings.

And since these started breeding already which to me is really exciting a Cape York Spotted Python.

I posted 5 pics and only one and a half of them were Brooksi!

That's got to be the best looking Cape York I've ever seen.

Thanks Tim, I love all the Anteresia. I think they're some of the greatest pets you can own. I got eggs last year and botched them........later on I successfully hatched out some Ball pythons so hopefully I will see some baby Spotteds this time around. Tom Stevens

funny you mention that about the PB brooks being aggressive. I have one very large male that I don't feed very much. JEEZ LOUS, when I open the cage that thing comes flying out with mouth open in the air and it has ben known to chase me across the room. Now i just get a newspaper and have to slap him to get control of his senses before dropping the mice in his cage. He actually thinks he can eat me.

I ask my wife "did you hear any commotion in the snake room last night?".........as occasionally a snake goes nuts and literally attacks. My Speckleds are like this very often but the Brooksi only act up during this time of year. I am sure FR is laughing at both of us......and I do expect this to happen with the snakes from time to time but funny thing is now I sometimes pay extra attention to what's around and behind me.....in case I have to run! I wonder about that sometimes. When we first got our Kisatchie, he was pretty aggressive. And his appearance is just a little less 'friendly' than that of Belle, our Brooksi. And while I don't know how smart snakes are, I doubt they can fully grasp things like perspective. So I wondered, if I'm sitting on the couch across the room and he's giving me the evil eye, does he know I'm big and far away? Or does he think I'm rat-sized right outside his tank? I think it's funny to imagine that he looks across the room at me and thinks, 'yeah, I could take him.'

And a VERY funny observation at that!!LOL

Sort of along the same lines that snakes don't even recognize things(by sight) unless they see them move!, otherwise, most objects are just part of the general terrain!LOL

I really liked your version of their aspect of scale!LOL

I have to "catch" both of my florida's in an old t-shirt that I hold in one hand while pulling the bin out with the other. They come flying out with mouth wide open and will not stop for anything!!

Tom, Didn't I produce that male PB?

If so, I bet i could find pics of him as a baby. First clean the shavings off the head so I can see his markings better.

a pic of a 2003 neonate PB.
