you need at least a 55 gallon, or 40 breeder for one beardie. That is about 3'long and 2' deep. you can make one out of plexiglass or glass, but I don't reccommend doing this unless you have experience, glasswork can be dangerous.
Two beardies cannot be housed together. Every once in a while you can come across a pair that gets along really well, but most of the time, there is too much of a territory issue. They will fight. The male always dominates over the female, and with two males, it will be a constant battle.

for a single adult dragon the minimum cage should have a floor space of 4'x2' or larger. Cages can be built out of various kinds of wood, as long as the wood hasn't been pressure treated, basically any wood safe for indoor use. Avoid cedar at all costs. Pine, spruce etc is fine, as well as all the hard woods and particle boards.

Paints, stains and varnishes can be used, just make sure they are safe for being around people and indoor use once dried. Make sure they are well ventilated and thoroughly dried before putting any dragons into the cage (pretty much if you can smell it, they can smell it worse and could be harmful).

For actual design plans and assembly instructions, do a google search on cage building, there are alot of articles about it and some places will sell plans. Also, scroll down the bearded dragon forum, there are some nice cages by BDLvr shown in an earlier post.
