What is it that makes bearded dragons one of the most popular pets around. What started you off on dragons?

For me, I must confess because living where I am, they are a rare sight...and secondly, they really seemed to have their own personality, and they seemed to watch and pay attention to you, sometimes a bit unnerving (and a little invasion of privacy) cause they are in my bedroom...heh

I like that Poseidon likes to pose on his big rock like the Lion King, he's very posey and that he has a nice big beard that he will puff out once in a while. As he's kinda pale, the black beard looks really cool on him :O)

I like it that Gilgamesh is such a pig... and that Lamia and Ishtar are super feminine compared to the males..

They do have interesting behavior, the only snake I've ever owned that is comparable is the hognose whose bluff antics make it so interesting to interact with.
I don't know how comparable bearded dragons are with other lizrds but this is animal that shows a definite interest in its surroundings as well as its owner.
By the way where do you live that makes this such a out of the ordinary pet?
