can we breed a BullxPine cross?

banjobert Nov 10, 2007 06:57 AM

would a bull/pine cross be able to produce viable young? just curious but trying to convince parents of letting me get a snake and i might want to try breeding. also would the speicies play a roll in breeding, would it only be capable of breeding with a bull or pine snake? also how can we sex our crossbred?

Of course they could produce viable young, as they are VERY closely related and in the same genus. But why bother, as it would be an intergrade and dilute from the true beauty of either one?

How about just breeding one or the other?, have you ever thought about that instead?......why feel compelled to just mix and match every single snake that comes along.....I just don't get this latest fad at all!.....certainly the combo you mentioned would NOT be exactly "eye-popping" to begin with, and second, all the offspring would look close enough to be later sold as either one to folks with un-trained eyes to just corrupt genepools already established by many dedicated breeders.

It really wouldn't be acomplishing anything at all.....to me anyway.

Please don't take this as a nasty reply to your post, but rather a friendly suggestion instead.

these are n.pineXcolorado bull F1's, remember have FUN snakes in captivity are DEAD to nature, so the keeping of pure is admirable but really thats about it. whats really funny is hybridhaters whining when many many many own what they think are "pure" but are actually cbb creations that nature would never allow,,,,,,,,thomas davis
