formaldehyde in MDF?

redmoon Nov 10, 2007 03:08 PM

I'm reading up on MDF, and I'm finding that formaldehyde is often used in making it. The first site I'm reading about MDF on says that off-gassing can be an issue if it's used around children, who are sensitive to respiratory irritants.

Is no one worried about this in caging? Or is there something that I'm just missing? That's what I'm assuming . . .

Read this article on formaldehyde in MDF. Basically the emissions are that of natural wood as the health scares forced the industry to reduce the emission leves to very low amounts. If you cut MDF,. you should use a mask to reduce any dust intake.
