She was about two weeks old when I bought her from Tim Frazier 4 1/2 years ago. She was a little over 5 1/2 feet when I bred her in the spring last year and she produced a litter of 28 that October. She had lost so much weight that I had to give her this year off. She didn't seem to fill out until this summer, she just kept getting longer!!

rainbowsrus Nov 10, 2007 05:42 PM

Wow she is a beast, I'm thinkng peruvian? Or at least a good dose of peruvian in her ancestry??

No peruvian, at least not that I know of. I do remember Tim telling me that he had a 7 foot male and that was the biggest male brb he had ever seen. I have a male that was sired by that 7 footer, he's a month younger than Aurora, but he must not of gotten his daddys big genes because he's only about 5 1/2 feet. He's barely grown in the last 18 months.

There has to be over a thousand Brazilians out there for every one you ever see or here about on Kingsnake. I don't doubt for a second that there are some real freaks out there!

Nice snake. Someone posted a week or so ago asking to see the biggest Brazilians. I've been meaning to get around to it. I'm glad you ressurected the post.

This is Tampa. She's the biggest female in my collection. I don't know too much about her history. I bought her a year and a half ago as a full-grown adult. She just measured at 6'1" and wieghed in at 7lbs, 9 oz. She gave birth earlier in the fall for the first time. When she first arrived here, she weighed closer to 9 lbs. Oh well, gotta put some weight on her before next breeding season.

How did you get such a precise measurement on her length?

I liked Tampa so much I bought two of her babies. Recognize this guy?

flavor Nov 11, 2007 11:59 AM

Hey Dan! I didn't realize you posted here. Of course I recognize him. Looks like he's got a little more size on him though.

To measure Tampa, I put the end of a piece of string on her nose, and just run the string down her back until I get to the tail. if she turns, I just follow the turns. I could probably do it by myself but I had my wife hold the snake while I ran the string.

Yeah. At 30g he's doubled in size since I got him. He usually looks better but he just started his shed cycle in that picture. I hope he turns out as light as Tampa.

Dan

This is Petunia, 6' 7" measured with serpentine widgets snake mmeasurere.exe. Largest wieght was 9 lbs, right now something over 6, regaining weight after breeding season.

Impressive snake Dave. I think I smell a new contest. Maybe we could make this an annual post. I hope others chime in with their big animals as well.

By the way, It looks like snake breeding has been good to you. I like the "Bling".

Not a bad idea but timing needs to be just prior to breeding.

BTW, did you ever mail me that card? I never received it.

Jeff Clark Nov 13, 2007 11:44 AM

Dan,
..Great looking snake. She has the potential to be a really big one in a few years. My biggest female BRBs are right at 7 feet long but they are all older snakes and are slow growing now. The largest BRBs I have owned and measured were just over 7 and a half feet. I have only seen a few that looked larger than them. I think the maximum length for BRBs is around 9 feet but that very few of them get near that size. The importers in Florida talk about seeing some of them over 8 feet. I think the ones being imported in recent years are never nearly that large. My largest Peruvian Rainbow looks like she is just over 7 feet long and weighs 9.5 pounds. My largest Isla Marajo weighs 9 pounds but is around 6.5 feet long.

Jeff, That's some great information. It's fun to hear about these bigger snakes. I heard about that 9 foot potential years ago but until now I've never heard of anyone having one over 7 feet. Thanks

She is a big girl....and she looks good too.
I guess that she is at least seven years old???

Congrats..

Hi Bryan, I talked to you at Tinley Park about Tim Frazier. This is the female that I got from him, she's 4 1/2 years old. I was wondering how old and big the females are that you got from him? There is probably a good chance that mine is related to yours. Do you know how many breeders Tim had?
