My question is a combination of Business/Market Trends & Breeding/Moprhs...
I've been in the hobby for a long time and I've watched the ball python market develope. I still remember back int he mid 90's going through Ball Python cbb imports and picking out the "fancy" balls for the pet stores I worked at. Honestly I never thought it would have made it to where it is today- Congrats- y'all have done a bang up job.
I focus mainly on certain colubrids, a few insular boids and a small group of beaded lizards. I've decided to get a few balls to mess around. I've already learned the "get rich quick' lessons in reptiles- ususally doesn't happen...just breed what YOU ENJOY KEEPING...
I'm picking up a '07 1.0 100% het Lavander Albino in a few weeks.. I just love the morph and see some ral potential in the near future for them. I figure I'll grab a few females early next year to breed to him (giving me 50% hets which I'll raise up the females for a small colony).
Question: What females should I invest in (say ~$3000 total to spend). I figure to see some short term results a few Co-dom genes like maybe a Lemon Blast or regular Pinstripe... With this combo I could make multiple morphs in a shorter period of time...even the non-het females (after proving out) will still be producing animals "I like to look at"..lol.
Any ideas from you experienced market guys on my "fun" project?
Thanks,
Graham Criglow
