Greetings
Just wanted to give an update on our male red-tail. Still no IBD signs. The breeder who still has a few of our last February clutch says they're still pigs. Our pregnant females are also not showing any IBD signs. We remain hopeful.
However, we're still trying to configure humidfiers to get a humidity for our snakes at anything higher than 25-30% which is sadly what our apartment seems to be.
The male went to the vets, had a lung wash, and there were NO results from either the bacterial or fungal cultures. However, he's still having a lot of trouble breathing, and the vet has informed me that snakes just don't always show a recognizeable level of distress. Midnight is opening his throat, but not his mouth; has spent a couple nights where I saw him fully stretched out rather than curled; and one night he was wedging his upper 1/3 vertical against the wall. Yet he remains in good weight, has shed well, eats and passes his food. The vet thinks it's too soon to put him down. So I wait, and watch, and try to keep his closet misted once or twice a day so that the humidity goes at least over 40%.
Thank you again for your time and your input
