After reading about Jennifer's predicament with sexing her CRBs, it got me wondering if it was possible to palpate adults to determine sex. I decided to bother my sleeping adults for a few minutes to give it a try. I started with Indigo.... nothing. Ok, let's try Flax... whoa, something there! Hmmm.... ok, let's try Indigo again... and again... and again........ still nothing.
Ok, time to whip out the probes. Indigo is now probing 4 scales?? He was sold to me as a proven breeder male, and probed 6 scales for me upon arrival. I guess I might have another female??
Oh and I also have a question.... I probed Flax too and got 6 scales on both sides. According to Jeff Clark's website: "Females will probe a distance of two to four subcaudal scales and males will probe to a depth of eight to twelve subcaudal scales." So what does 6 mean? Since I did feel a "bump" when palpating, I'm pretty sure he is male.... but what does 6 usually mean anyway?

I find that most (not all) of my snakes take better pictures in overcast/shady conditions. When I load them up on my computer, I almost always have to tweak them just a bit to make them look right. Perhaps this is your problem? Have you tried messing with the brightness or contrast levels of your photos?
so definately on the want list but won't happen for awhile so you might have to suffer from my amateur pics but they are better than nothing I suppose
