Nice BIG retic....on COPS.

justinmorse Nov 11, 2007 08:30 PM

I hate watching totally inexperienced people on TV.

Basic storyline -

Somewhere in FL, there was a good 14ft retic in someone's front yard. And when I say she was pretty, I mean an AMAZING looking tic. Anyway, they have this big dog carrier to put it in. So this guy (the cop) decides to touch the snake's lower back to see whether or not he's tame. Surprisingly, the monster was kitten tame. So the cop moves to the head and gently grips his hand behind it, which was fine, she didn't care at all - now here's the kicker - instead of asking his partner to help him by grabbing the back end in order to bring the big girl forward into the carrier, he decides to try and DRAG ALL 75LBS OF HER BY THE BACK OF HER HEAD, in an attempt to LIFT her into the carrier, which is now flipped with the opening upwards. Now, this perfectly tame 14ft retic starts to get pissed and starts trying to coil his arm...now he starts stepping on her and tells his partner to step on her tail....FULL FORCE STEPPING ON HER.

I stopped watching at this point. Pure stupidity.

It could have been much easier had he not used his ridiculous tactics, treating the snake as aggressive when she clearly, and even in his words, was not "skittish", or aggressive.

Fool.

Since Florida has become a new home for giant constrictors, you'd thing a simple seminar for police officers on how to handle/subdue/capture the big reptiles might be appropriate.

Guess not.

Tax dollars at work.

I just saw it myself on Court TV the other night, when you must have seen it. I've seen that one at least 5 times over the years. The first time I saw it was in the early 90's. Yeah, the cop was a moron, and he was the "expert" on the force. Hey, people are ignorant when it comes to snakes. That will never change. As far as them being required to be more experienced, since it was so long ago, hopefully new regulations have been implemented in FL. But really, how much good can it do? People HATE snakes. Just watch in disbelief and be proud you're not part of the masses.

This is an animal control problem and not a problem for a officer to handle. Sure he tried to do his best and that may nothave been all that great. Atleast he did not just walk up and shoot it. And the fool in this situation is the individual who released this snake into the wild. This is why some cities across the country are now making new laws that require us to have permits to own certain snakes. More money out of our pockets.
