Pinkies

Gavriel Nov 12, 2007 04:46 PM

Hi all,

Generally how large should the Leo be before feeding it pinkies? I'm trying to find a way to vary it's diet, and with my wife is not taking to the idea of crickets or roaches to in the house. Thus far, I've just been feeing it mealies, kingworms, and wax worms.

Currently, the Leo's about 7" long and her head is about 1" at the widest.

Thanks!

WOW, sorry about the terrible grammar and English, guess I should have had more coffee this morning!

She prob could handle a small pink at that size. What are kingworms, and how do I get some?

Just my take, but I'd only use pinkies as a pre- or post-laying mass booster for females (if then). Those little globs will really pack the calories into geckos, and you usually don't want to do that with insectivorous species kept in confinement.

How is your wife uncomfortable with crickets but not with rat babies ?

I hope you mean mouse babies... Rat pinks are prob too big for all but the largest leo

Geckogrl, kingworms are just another name for superworms.

Oh, very good. I was all excited to try a new prey item. Gavriel, you can try silkworms. They are expensive, but make very good feeders.
