Feeding a Baby Savannah Eggs?

TheWormwood Aug 23, 2003 11:44 PM

Hi all;
Just a quick question about eggs; are grocery store eggs safe? I'm a bit worried about salmonella in a raw egg (which is what I've read is recommended, since they'd be eating raw in the wild) and Tiamat isn't interested in cooked egg...though he'll eat just about anything else!
Any input would be appreciated!
Many thanks;
~Wormwood

Do not give your savanna raw egg's. Ive had nothing but bad experience feeding monitors raw eggs. Also if you decide to continue offering cooked egg give your guy the egg yolk's only. The egg whites can cause a vitimine or protein defficiency, i think its a botin defficency or some [bleep] like that.

*nod* Yeah, that's what I tried to give him, was the yolk of a hard boiled egg. Unfortunately, he just turned up his nose at it. For some reason, if it doesn't move... he won't eat it.
Even if I 'wiggle' it with chopsticks, it's still not appealing I guess.
Oh well! We'll have to stick to crickets and hoppers for now.
Thanks!
