cold water

skippy Aug 23, 2003 11:59 PM

I didn't end up making a waterfall. I still want to, but for now I got a litter box (obviously not dirty) and put rocks in it to try and keep it shallow enough for him. But now I've been noticing that his water always feels cold. His cage is always a good temp, but the water cools down very quickly.

Is it OK for the water to be cold?

Yea for sure my male king is always in his water bowl and its cold and he never leaves it too. yea the waterfall is a good idea i plan to do that in the future also. but for now im getting one of those aquarium air pumps and im gonna set it in the water so that it creates bubbles.

The water in the viv may get cold and that is not a problem. These guys don't seem to mind. However, I made the mistake of using cold, like straight from the tap with no warm water added, and one of my gals jumped in as I was filling it. One in it seemed that she was struggling to get a footing and although she was trying to use her front legs to try to get out she was unable to do so and flipped over and stopped moving. I removed her from the water and for most of the day she seemed to be unable to move her back legs. I warmed the water up to be more cool, not cold. Good news is that she did regain movement but I would hate to have had this happen when I wasn't in the room or she may have drowned!
