I may be relocating from California to N. Carolina. I've done all the necessary searching to make sure my pets are legal. (Duh, anything legal in California is legal everywhere else but Hawaii, I'm sure).
Then I began calling airlines to see what their policy was on shipping/transporting reptiles. I called Delta Dash first. They told me I'd have to be a commercial shipper to use them. Buh? How come I know people who AREN'T commercial shippers who have used Delta Dash? Buh. They didn't have an answer to this question, naturally.
I then talked to the pet first desk at Delta Airlines and they told me after putting me on hold for a few minutes that they will not ship reptiles as air cargo. Double buh. I could have sworn I read about some people on the web who have done just this without Delta batting an eye. Even their website says they ship all reptiles but snakes (venomous or otherwise). You just can't check them as baggage or take them on board with you. Silly since people wouldn't even know I had them. I keep a very low profile with my critters since some people are unnecessarily freaked out by lizards.
I then called a couple other major airlines and was told to "release them before you move". Where do these a-holes get off telling me I should release my pets, rather than take them with me?
The more I talk to these retards on the phone, the more inclined I am to do something illegal in order to take my pets with me. I'd rather do it legally, though. Besides, it isn't as if I'm trying to transport anything remotely dangerous. I have two bearded dragons and a cantankerous old lady iguana, who I have had in my life for 14 years.
So I'm hoping for a little light. Has anyone had experience in either shipping by air cargo, or taking them on with you and just keeping them under your seat?
