Very nice, Bill! Good shots of some very nice snakes.

Here's one of a southwestern rat snake (Elaphe (Pantherophis) emoryi meahllmorum).

This whole topic, Mark, makes me think of that red eyed Yellow you found a year or so ago.

I just may try something like that on the King forum. I had a very busy season over here and things have finally begun to wind down. I was a bit overwhelmed at times and sold some great animals before getting any decent pics of them. I am hoping to get a bunch of pics before my adults get cooled for the winter. Thanks again for posting those pictures, I really enjoyed this post!

That's cool!

I don't have many eye closeups (snakes don't appreciate my macro lens), so here's a few shots with some eyes...

Elaphe (?) quadrivittata

Pseudoelaphe flavirufa

Rhynchophis

PS Chris,
Have you seen anything on the research done in the '80s that hypothesized that subterranean snakes or lizard ancestors lost their eyes as we know them and the modern animals have structure unlike other vertebrates?
I can't remember who or where..

Very cool, Shane, and very different eyes.

Seems like the quad I kept in the '80s never constricted and acted more like a racer!
Thanks

You see now, Guys, I was thinking supernatural.
How foolish.
Animal-bots make perfect sense; kind of like the old movie, "West World".
Whoa.... scarey....

Great pix all!
These photos are GREAT for referring to if anyone decides to get any snake tattoos done and needs some close-up detail.
My next tattoo will be a snake, unfortunately not a colubrid. I'll probably get something in the pigmy rattler realm.
