100% het lavender albino?

MannyRottie Nov 13, 2007 07:57 PM

In an earlier post, I stated what would you purchase for a grand. I was offered since I am picking up quite a few animals that for that 1K he would give me a 100% het lavender albino. Is this worth more than any of the lessers, clowns, and so forth? Would you take this guy with no questions asked? Or would you go for something that you know you can probable get a pair out of? It would be a no brainer if it was a female but a male will be in my collection for a while before I will be able to breed him to a female 100% het lav. albino. Whatcha think?

$1000 for a male is a pretty good price IMO. Just make sure it is from some one reputable.

I believe they are reputable. The only thing is that it is a male and I prob. will not be able to purchase a female for a few years. Is it worth holding on to this animal when I can get a female of another morph or a pair?

JSpythons Nov 13, 2007 08:15 PM

Well, you don't necessarily need a female het. You can breed him to normal females, hold back the poss. het females and breed them back to him and prove out the poss hets.

Thats true. So would you do it or go with a pair of het clowns or het axanthics. Something like that, I believe I can even go with a high contrast albino female. That is very enticing also.

JSpythons Nov 13, 2007 08:32 PM

That is a tough decision that's for sure. I don't know what you should do. Going with the lav. het. male is a long road and you wouldn't see results for at least 3-4 years. If I were you, I think I would get the het clowns. You've got pastels so you can mix that in. Have you ever seen the super pastel clown, it is amazing! You've also got a spider. I think a spider clown would look pretty cool. I'd go with the het clowns but that's just my opinion since I'm partial to clowns. But in the end, get what YOU want. If you would rather have lavenders than clowns, then by all means throw my opinion right out the window

Lavenders are the best recessive mutation out there IMO. If you have or can buy any adult normal females I would go with that and just hold back all the female hatchlings. I think $1000 is a pretty good price. I paid $7000 for my pair of hets a few years ago.

The both of you make so much sense that now I am more confused lol...I will go and see the lav. albinos because I have never seen them in person. I have heard that once you see them that you automatically fall in love. I bet he would throw in a normal female. So I do have that option. But those spider clowns are nice

What do You think of this Big Gal ... When i seen this Animal I had to take a Picture.. I wish it was Mine. As far as looks though I like the Coral Glow the best talk about Color.!!!!

The previous poster said you already have a Pastel and a Spider -no? Why not find somebody in your area that needs these morphs (you can post), have this person pay most or all of 1K the 100% Het Lavender Albino male.

In exchange, you loan this person your Spider and Pastel and he/she breeds these to his Normals ending up with these morphs for his money. The following year, you both take turns breeding the Het Lav Albino male to normals females. You keep ALL the possible het females from this breeding. You can then Sell the 100% Het Lav. Albino male and recoup some of your money back or even be ahead at this point. In 1-2 years you buy 100% Het Lav Albino male (they should be alot cheaper by this time) and after a year, both your 100% het Lav Albino male and possible het Lav Albino females will be ready to breed.

You can get Lavender Albinos in 3-4 years this way for free, or you can even make some cash out of it?

Damn you make that sound too easy. Thanks

kadabraz Nov 13, 2007 09:30 PM

i believe mannyrottie said all he has in hatchlings. so he is at least a year from any of that. sounds to me like he has $1000 burning a hole in his pocket. i dont understand why you dont pick up what you like manny. i awesome you got into this hobby for your enjoyment. u shouldnt need advice on what u like. buy what you want to work with. not whats gonna make you the most money.

You are totally right on. I am going to do what I want, but I figured the more experienced herpers might have a piece of advise that I did not think of. But you def raise the best points, but its not burning a hole in my pocket. It already burned the hole lol

well i definitely know what i like! i know i am screwed up, but whenever i look through our collection and then come accross one of our lavs i feel like: "why breed for anything else?"
if it was me i would sell the codoms and pool the funds of sale with the $1000 to get a proven breeder male 100% het lav from a breeder i wouldnt worry about...make the females that are gonna hatch me my own lavs down the road this year.
