The kings that I keep in individual cages I give a couple hiding boxes. I was wondering if I need to put hide boxes in a rack unit? Or do most of you just leave them out.

I think that after a proper temperature gradient, a good hide (or hide system) is the second most important thing to a snake.

I use hides in every cage, with every snake, no matter the size or cage type.

I racks I use cork bark and upturned clay flower pot bases. They are low profile, dark, and cheap.

i use black plastic hide box made by esu each of my tubs in racks. so basically a newspaper, hide and a water dish is all my snakes have in their tubs.

Every snake in my collection, in my racks or not, gets a hidebox. Some get two.

I keep 2 hides in each tub, one in the back where the heat tape is, and one in the front where it's cooler. If I have enough room I will sometimes put more in.

I always felt that in the wild, snakes have an unlimited number of hiding places.

Thanks for all the input. I have hide boxes in each rack unit. It is that i saw some pics with no hide boxes and thought maybe they were not needed for some strange reason. Since this is my first rack system I wanted to be sure. In all my regular cages I have 2 hides. Like my JCP tank below.

I just use about 3" of aspen in my rack drawers. Those that want to hide can burrow, those that dont just hang out on top. Works for me.
