Package just arrived from Jeff...

JenHarrison Nov 14, 2007 09:45 AM

This guy just arrived about 15 minutes ago -- and he is just the coolest little snake! I had never seen an Argentine rainbow until last week, and the minute I saw the pic (and his mother's pic), I knew I had to have him. Such a difference from my CRB's and from the BRB I had in the past. Wow! Very fiesty little one -- so brave, trying to tag me and curling up his little tail. LOL!

I need an Argentinian name...

Thanks Jeff! I'll be needing a female soon!

Congratulations, beautiful snake! (I would have bought this little guy monnths ago if I didn't get my Indigo.) Please post pics as often as possible, it would be interesting to see this guy grow up!

How about "Juan", and the future female could be "Eva"? Okay, it's kind of hokey...

Thanks,
Ed

That's crazy Ed cuz I was thinking of Juan already and then of course I went to Juan Pablo Montoya (nascar guy if you watch) but great guys think alike or at least different ones do and hope your indigo poops today

Well, you know the saying, "Great minds think alike."
Which I never really understood, because you can say the same thing about poor minds.

I cleaned the cage twice yesterday, so I'll be real upset if I find a stinky present when I get home...

My CRB's are already Pablo and Mercedes, and my BRB I had in the past was Ava. So Juan may work. Montoya may also work, that is the last name of one of my best friends while I was in the Army. I love giving them appropriate names when they're from South America because they're so exotic-looking that it fits -- African names just don't seem to fit ball pythons too well, they're too tubby and domestic-looking. So I stick to goofy American names for them.

we don't see many of them therefore you have to pick up the slackcongrats on your new addition and Jeff is a great guy to do business with and mine was the tamest so go figure and he was lost for a day at that

You don't have to worry about that, this guy screams "take my picture!" I just wish I had a better camera.

Congrats on the new little guy! I really like the head pattern on him. Argentines are one of the "other" RB species that I really like.

Jen,
..His parents are named Gaucho and Criolla. Criollo is an Argentinian horse breed. I corrupted that word with the change of the o on the end to an a to make it a feminine name. He has not been striking for several months. Apparently he did not like his airline flights. Tail curling when acting defensively is fairly common in the smaller Rainbow Boas. I only rarely see Brazilian Rainbow Boas do it.
Thanks,
Jeff

I don't mind it at all, he's a tiny little baby, I more than understand his defensiveness. Plus he just went through shipping and was sideways in his container, so I'd be freaked out too. I just held him for a couple minutes when I got home from work and he was squirmy, but no longer striking or interested in biting. He's such a great little guy!

I get a kick out of the tail curl, that is just so cute!

O.o

Wow. Now I'm jealous! I don't suppose there are more where this came from?

JenHarrison Nov 15, 2007 03:12 AM

I know he doesn't have any females as the litter was male-heavy, but he may have more males -- not sure. This was the only one listed, the ad was for this solitary male. I definitely want another one from Jeff in the future (female), I would really love to have a pair of these.

Well, I don't care about gender, I don't plan on breeding them, I just want to own one. But I dunno... on the one hand, I LOVE the look of these. On the other, I'm going to be able to pick up a snake in person this weekend, and I can only get one right now, and there is something to be said for seeing them live rather than just in photos. *shrug* So I guess it doesn't matter.

Liann Nov 15, 2007 07:21 AM

He's gorgeous Jen! Love the color and pattern.
