Quick question, What would everyone do if they knew someone was selling normals as hets?

Quick question, What would everyone do if they knew someone was selling normals as hets?
Let me turn this around to you.
How would you feel if you bought a project animal that took 3 years to grow up and FINALLY after all that time realizing that it was not truly what you bought it as?
I would call them out immediately, to spare the grief of potential customers and people everywhere.

-Ohh, what a Lady-
Bust their azz!!!
The buyer wastes 3 years & the small breeder has cut his prices in half to sell legit hets.
report him to the board of inquiry on fauna
I would expose them as soon as possible. Many people that do this and I am sure that there are a**holes that do, are greedy, dream shattering thieves. Many people got into this hobby to actually create a specific morph with less money because it is simply a drea of theirs. Other peoples opinions have no precedence with this isse because what people do is their business. To have an idiot sell a normal as a het and make more money and have the buyer spend three years of time, money, and space on an animal they in actuality do not want, is nauseating. These people make me sick. EXPOSE THEM AND OFF WITH THEIR HEADS...
That is a tough one to prove, though!

It happened to me. I bought a pair of juveniles that were supposed to be double het snow- Joliff. A quirky turn of events led the breeder of those animals to discover that the guy he had sold them to had sold TWO such pairs- when in fact there was only ONE pair. A comparison of pictures led to the discovery that I had the fake pair.
I emailed and telephoned the guy and told him the choice was his. If he returned my money PLUS $100 extra for feed and care, then I would not say anything to anyone. If he did not return the money, then I would contact Kingsnake, Fauna BOI, and all the federal agency officials who govern internet fraud and the FBI. ..."It is your choice"...I told him.
He returned the money. I even sent the two snakes back to him. And I never said anything to anyone.

I'm glad your blackmail worked, but by saying "nothing to no one" you have just helped this guy rip off his next ten victims. I guess that kind of makes you an accomplice, huh?
Making the guy pay $100 meant nothing to him, he simply re-couped your hush money when he resold the fake hets. to his next victim.
this is what im scared of!!!! i want to make some beautiful snakes for myself and dont want to spend a crapload of money to do it, i would rather invest my time. i would have no problem buying hets, but this post is exactly what makes me want to buy the visual morph because you will not know untill it is way too late.

and we had a pet mouse......untill stripes was hungry
Found out this Summer that a female het pied I'd purchased a couple of years ago from what I thought was a reputable company is almost certainly a normal. This party was exposed on the BOI by several of those burned by him. Evidently a lot of folks were taken in, and it doesn't look like we're going to get any of that money back. But at least it isn't likely that they will get away with this again! Luckily I have other het females.
Any such slimeball should be exposed immediately!!!

The Avalanche has already started-it is too late for the pebbles to vote....
With the real lack of legal avenues and a hobby full of dirt-bags, it's up to the community to police itself. We need to lookout for ourselves and each other. By turning a "blind eye", you are in effect condoning such behavior. The tighter we control ourselves, the better the hobby will eventually be. It's already too hard for legit, small-breeders to sell anything. In turn they drop there prices, which causes the next guy to drop his/her prices in a vicious cycle of price slashing.
Just because you avoid being ripped off, the dirt-bag still moves on (if left uncontested), rips off other people and in the end, you pay through having to sell your animals at much lower prices, deal with issues of mistrust and so on...
In the end, we must all hold ourselves to higher standards and practice good Karma - what goes around, comes around.

Good points Jay,
It is one thing to slander people publicly as the Reptile forums are quick to do but to "warn" people of "RIP OFFS" and or "INTENTIONAL FRAUD" is valid and important. "PROOF" is "NEEDED" in order for anyone to establish that customers are being taken advantage of.
Involving Hets which is a trust transaction invoices "signed" by the breeder with as much information as possible to establish a link between the breeders word and the customers sales receipt is important to prove who sold the hets as hets.
Please keep us updated on this issue.
Sincerely, Kyle

isnt it next to imposable to tell which snakes are hets and which are normal from the same clutch? im not trying to defend anyone, but couldnt there be a chance someone could be ripped off by accident. im new to this, but its my understanding that if you breed a visual with a normal you will get some hets and a normal. how can you garantee that you are buying a het?

If you breed a het to a visual, you will produce either hets or visuals. Use albinos for example....A het albino carries an albino gene and a normal gene. The albino has two albino genes. Each parent contributes one gene. The offspring are guaranteed one albino gene from the albino parent. The het parent contributes either another albino gene, or a normal gene. Therefore the offspring either get two albino genes(making a visual albino) or one of each (making a het).
Pretty sure I got that right....new to this myself. Do a search on the punette square. It really has helped me understand.
Any of the breeders who really know their stuff that can confirm I got this right?
